A Guide for Nigerian Immigrants
We actively support the preservation and promotion of Nigerian heritage among second-generation Nigerians. This includes organizing annual cultural celebrations and collaborating with local institutions. We also provide youth scholarships and cultural engagement awards to support educational advancement and cultural identity. Furthermore, we run continuous mentorship and leadership development programs to foster personal growth.
Nigerians in West Texas (NIWT) is dedicated to creating a vibrant, unified community where members find support, empowerment, and a strong sense of belonging. We host major annual events, such as the Nigerian Independence Day Celebration and an End-of-Year Conference/Fundraising Dinner, specifically to foster unity and cultural pride among our members. We also launch annual Community Service Drives and establish emergency relief funds to assist vulnerable families in times of need.
We maintain a robust structure that prioritizes inclusivity, with open membership across religious, ethnic, and social lines. NIWT encourages all members to report any incidents of discrimination or exclusion, including tribal, gender-based, or religious bias, with reports handled confidentially. Retaliation against anyone reporting discrimination is strictly prohibited, and all complaints are investigated promptly and fairly, with clear consequences for confirmed violations. Our operations are governed by transparency and accountability, including quarterly public reporting on finance and activities.
